Korea in The Queen City

"A Cultural Journey in November 2025"

From Experience to Insight
A journey across cultures, captured in moments and documented in detail.
Experience a Full Month of Korean Culture in the Heart of Charlotte!

Korea in the Queen City™ Marks the opening chapter of the World Tea Ceremony™ series — a collaborative presentation by Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery and Hands On Well. This month-long cultural celebration is co-curated by artist Lee Ko, founder of Hands On Well, and Joanne Rogers, director of Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery and founder of the World Tea Ceremony series. The event takes place at Nine eighteen Nine Studio Gallery at The VAPA Center, Charlotte’s hub for creative expression.

Together, Ko and Rogers have thoughtfully designed this year’s program to center around the theme of tea as a symbol of hospitality, reflection, and cultural connection. From photography and music to traditional crafts, culinary experiences, and tea rituals, the festival honors Korea’s rich heritage while inviting global dialogue through the shared spirit of tea.

Most programs are free and open to the public, with select workshops (such as tea ceremonies and craft classes) requiring RSVP and a small fee.

This celebration is more than a festival—it is a cultural bridge.
Whether you’re exploring Korean culture for the first time or reconnecting with your roots, Korea in the Queen City invites you to celebrate what brings us together: food, music, art, and shared human experience.

Everyone is welcome—families, students, artists, and neighbors—to engage with Korean culture in ways that are meaningful, inclusive, and joyful.
